Candy AI images come one free, and everything after that costs tokens at a price Candy does not publish. Premium lists “Generate 18+ Images” and brings 100 tokens a month, so how many pictures a month buys is a sum I can set up for you but not finish.
Think of the free image as the last frame on a roll of film. I have given it more thought than most things I have paid for. Everything here comes from Candy’s help center, homepage and plan page, re-checked on October 15, 2026. The generator itself sits behind a login (its page sent me back to the homepage), so I cannot show you outputs and I won’t describe any.
Candy AI images: the one free picture and how to spend it
Candy’s help center lists what a free user can do: up to 5 chat messages across all characters, one custom character and one generated image, made either in the generator or directly in chat. There are no tokens on the free tier, so that single image is the whole free budget.
Candy’s own prompt tips are the best use of it: be descriptive and specific, say what the image is for, and ask for the exact pose you want. Pair it with your free custom character, so the one build and the one picture answer the same question: does the look match your taste? The create-your-own guide covers the build.
| Free account | Premium (from $3.99/mo) | |
|---|---|---|
| Candy Shorts | Episode 1 with no account, episode 2 with a free account | Every episode, at 12 tokens (30 on Creator series) |
| Chat messages | 5 in total, across all characters | Unlimited messages |
| Custom AI girlfriend | One custom character | Create your own, as many as you like |
| Images and video | One image | 18+ image and video generation, paid with tokens |
| Tokens | None | 100 every month |
| Voice messages and calls | Not included | Paid with tokens |
How many tokens does a Candy AI image cost?
Candy does not say. Its help center lists image generation as a token use and the plan page lists the 18+ image benefit, and no page I could read gives a per-image price. Forum figures contradict each other, so none appear here.
You can still set up the sum. Divide 100 by the tokens one image costs and you have the pictures a month holds, remembering that images, voice, video and Shorts drain the same pool. For scale, a 12-token Shorts episode costs $0.48 on the 12-month plan and $1.68 on the 1-month plan, so your plan choice changes what every token costs. Every image is a Shorts episode I did not watch, and the exchange rate is unpublished, which I find stressful.
To learn the figure, spend one image and watch the balance. Run those tests after you decide to keep Premium: Candy refunds a subscription only within 24 hours, and only if you used 20 tokens or fewer.

See the Premium plansKeep the meter honest: the “Show me” toggle
On Premium, chat can produce images when you type prompts like “show me”, “send me” or “can I see”. Candy’s Image Generation Toggle, in the Ask button menu, removes those prompts. It is on by default, it persists across sessions, and Candy says that with it off your AI sends no images and uses no tokens for them.
There is a second source of surprises. Candy says characters in Realistic mode may send photos, voice notes and videos at random, with toggles beside the gift icon to switch that off. Candy’s pages do not say what those cost, so if your balance drops faster than expected, check both. More on the talking side in Candy AI chat.
Candy AI image quality: what Candy admits, and what I can’t judge
Candy’s tips article names the limits itself. Very complex prompts can fail, and consistent details such as hair color or clothing may need repeated attempts with slightly adjusted wording. For characters you build, Candy’s help center claims “enhanced image quality, realism, and consistency” for the current V2 type. That is Candy’s claim; I cannot grade it from outside.
Adult images are allowed within Candy’s Community Guidelines, and moderation controls may moderate or alter a prompt before anything is generated. If you want finished pictures without prompting, Candy also sells pre-made content under My Private Content on each character’s profile, and Exclusive Characters usually come with a pack. Candy does not show those prices publicly either.
Edit, save and share: the rules
- Editing. I found no image editor in the help center or public pages. The documented fix is to regenerate with a better prompt.
- Saving. The help center mentions download permission pop-ups for generated images and videos, which are normally browser settings.
- Sharing. Personal use only. Commercial use is not permitted, and you may post images of characters you created to your own unmonetized social media. Content from Explore or homepage characters is off limits.
- Video. Images are also the first step of Candy’s clips, covered in Candy AI video.
Is the image generator worth paying for?
Pay if pictures are your reason for Premium and you accept an unpublished price: the 12-month plan ($3.99 a month, $47.88 billed once) gives the cheapest tokens. Use the free image as a filter. If it does not impress you, no token price will fix that. If you mostly want stories, the same tokens buy Shorts episodes at a published 12 each, and the free episodes cost nothing; see Candy AI tokens. Plans renew automatically, so set a reminder.

Questions people ask
How many free images do you get on Candy AI?
One. Candy's help center lists 'generate one image' for a free user, made either in the image generator or directly in chat. It does not say the allowance refills, and free accounts get no tokens, so after that image the generator needs Premium, from $3.99 a month on the 12-month plan. Spend it on a careful prompt.
How many tokens does a Candy AI image cost?
Candy does not publish a per-image price on any page I could read logged out; its help center only says image generation is a token use. Forum numbers conflict, so I give none. Premium includes 100 tokens a month, so watch your balance after the first paid image to learn the real figure.
Can you edit images on Candy AI?
I found no image editor in Candy's help center or public pages. What Candy describes is regenerating: be descriptive, state the pose, simplify complex prompts and retry with adjusted wording, because details such as hair color or clothing can drift. If an editor exists inside Premium, I could not see it.
Can I stop images from using up my tokens?
Yes, on Premium. An Image Generation Toggle in the Ask button menu removes the 'Show me', 'Send me' and 'Can I see' prompts. Candy says that with it off your AI will not send images and no tokens are used while image mode is disabled. It is on by default and the setting persists across sessions.
Can I use Candy AI images commercially?
No. Candy's help center says commercial use of anything generated on the platform is not permitted: no selling, licensing, ads or monetized sites. Personal use is fine, and you may post images of characters you created to your own social media if you earn nothing from them. Do not post content from characters featured on Explore or the homepage.
Are adult images allowed on Candy AI?
Yes, within Candy's Community Guidelines: the help center says users may generate adult content that complies with them, and advises being exact about the pose you want. Candy's terms also say moderation controls may moderate or alter a request before anything is generated, so expect some prompts to come back changed.
