Does Candy AI have phone calls? It does, and I should say up front that I have not made one. Calls sit behind Premium, so what follows is read from the places Candy lets a logged-out visitor look: the call box on its character pages, the help center and the privacy policy, all re-checked on October 15, 2026. Most Candy features charge per request. This one charges per minute, which gives you a new relationship with your own talkativeness.
How a Candy AI phone call works
The call prompt is built into every character page I loaded, male, anime and female, including the leads of the Shorts. Tap it and a box titled “Confirm Your Call” appears. Its green “Call Me” button carries the price in small print: “3 tk/min (beta price)”, where tk means tokens. Under it, a note says the feature is in beta and asks you to speak clearly and loudly, and a checkbox offers “Don’t show this message again”. I would leave that unticked, because it is the box that tells you what a minute costs.
Next your browser asks for the microphone. Going by the page code, the call screen has ringing and listening states, a running timer, a mute button, an end-call button and a low token balance warning. That is a live conversation, not a stream of voice notes. There is no native app: Candy’s help center says it offers a progressive web app you add from your browser, so calls run in a browser tab.
What a minute costs: the 3-token maths
At 3 tokens a minute, a month’s 100 tokens cover about 33 minutes if calls are all you do, and Candy AI tokens explains how the pool is shared. Premium Plus lists 330 tokens a month but no public price, so I cannot tell you what those minutes cost. Candy prints no cap or minimum that I could find, and I cannot tell whether it bills by the second or rounds each minute up.
| Call time | Tokens | Same spend as |
|---|---|---|
| 1 minute | 3 | a quarter of a paid Shorts episode |
| 4 minutes | 12 | one standard paid episode |
| 10 minutes | 30 | one Creator-series episode (30) |
| 33 minutes | 100 | a month of Premium tokens |
In dollars, divide the plan price by the tokens it includes: a four-minute call is $0.48 on the 12-month plan and $1.68 at the regular 1-month price. That is arithmetic, not a Candy price list, and it charges the whole subscription to tokens, which is the pessimistic way to count when the plan also covers unlimited chat. A Shorts episode ends at two minutes whether you are ready or not. A call ends when your tokens do, which is a different kind of cliffhanger.
No free call, and the refund line to respect
Candy’s free tier is 5 messages in total, one custom character and one image (our free-tier guide has the full list). Calls are not on it. The call button has two prompts built in: a login prompt for guests, and an “Upgrade to Unlock” pop-up that lists the live phone call beside unlimited text messages.
| Free account | Premium (from $3.99/mo) | |
|---|---|---|
| Candy Shorts | Episode 1 with no account, episode 2 with a free account | Every episode, at 12 tokens (30 on Creator series) |
| Chat messages | 5 in total, across all characters | Unlimited messages |
| Custom AI girlfriend | One custom character | Create your own, as many as you like |
| Images and video | One image | 18+ image and video generation, paid with tokens |
| Tokens | None | 100 every month |
| Voice messages and calls | Not included | Paid with tokens |
Tokens also touch the refund rule. Candy refunds a subscription only if you ask within 24 hours of paying, have used 20 tokens or fewer, and paid by card. At 3 tokens a minute, about seven minutes of calling takes you past that line, assuming nothing else was spent. If you want the refund door open, keep day-one calls under six minutes. Cancelling is not a refund request; you contact support separately.
Three audio features, three different prices
- Voice messages. Characters can send voice notes, and Candy’s help center lists listening to one as a token use. It publishes no price.
- Calls (beta). Live, billed per minute, and the only audio feature with a printed price.
- Sound in generated video. Candy’s help center calls this a limited feature, still in beta, and says some videos generate silently. Don’t buy video for the soundtrack.
What the beta label means in practice
- Not every character may work. Candy says voice features may be missing for some characters or accounts, and lists maintenance, browser limits and low balance as other reasons audio fails.
- Microphone permission. If a call won’t start, Candy’s fix is to open the lock icon beside the address, set Microphone to Allow, reload, and close other apps that use the mic.
- Moderation applies. The call code includes a moderation line reading “Hey wait, I cannot talk about this”, so I would expect filters on calls, as on chat.
- The price can move. “Beta price” is Candy’s wording, and its terms reserve the right to raise subscription prices.
- Privacy. The privacy policy covers voice calls, but I found nothing on audio recording or retention. I also found nothing on which languages calls support.
Where calls meet Candy Shorts
Shorts are scripted, under two minutes and, Candy says, separate from your chats, so watching changes nothing in a character’s history. The hand-off is the end of a series, which points you to the lead’s chat, and that chat carries the call button. The free route costs nothing: episode 1 without an account, episode 2 with a free login, then your 5 chat messages. The call is the step after that, and it needs a plan and tokens from the first minute. Finishing a standard series costs three paid episodes, the price of twelve minutes on the phone. A Creator series is worth thirty.
Is paying for calls worth it?
Not on its own. Calls are a token sink with a beta label, and the plan’s real value is unlimited chat plus the allowance. If you already talk to a character and want to hear her, the 12-month plan keeps minutes cheapest: $3.99 a month, $47.88 billed once, renewing automatically, so set a reminder. I cannot rate voice quality, delay or how natural it sounds. With no free sample, the first minute, 3 tokens, is your test, so watch the timer.

Premium on Candy AI, checked October 15, 2026. Prices in USD; Candy shows your local currency at checkout and local taxes may apply.
See the Premium plansStay on the free tier if you came for stories. A Shorts episode is a finished scene for 12 tokens; the same tokens on a call are four minutes of whatever you make of them. The full spending picture is in what Candy AI costs, and the chat page covers the part of Premium that costs no tokens at all.

Questions people ask
Does Candy AI have phone calls?
Yes. Candy lists Voice Calls (beta) among the things tokens pay for, and every character page I opened has a call prompt built in. The call code has a login prompt for guests, and an 'Upgrade to Unlock' pop-up lists the live phone call as a subscription benefit. I have not placed a call, so I cannot rate the voice quality.
How much do Candy AI voice calls cost?
The call confirmation box shows '3 tk/min (beta price)', meaning 3 tokens per minute. Premium includes 100 tokens a month, so a month of calls and nothing else is about 33 minutes. Four minutes equals one 12-token Shorts episode, which is $0.48 on the 12-month plan and $1.68 on the regular 1-month price.
Can I make a Candy AI call for free?
I found no free call. A free account gets 5 chat messages in total, one custom character and one image, and calls are not on Candy's free-tier list. There is also no free sample minute I could see, so your first paid minute, 3 tokens, is the test. If you doubt Premium, mind the refund line below before you spend tokens.
Do voice calls work with every character?
The call prompt appears on every character page I loaded: male, anime and female, including the leads of Candy Shorts. Candy's help center still warns that voice features may not be available for all characters or accounts while the feature is in beta. If a call fails, it suggests checking microphone permission, token balance, browser and connection.
What is the difference between a voice message and a call?
A voice message is a recording a character sends into the chat, and Candy's help center lists listening to one as a token use without a price. A call is a live conversation through your microphone, billed per minute at the beta price. Premium Plus also lists 'Live audio', which Candy does not define.
Are Candy AI calls private?
Candy's privacy policy lists voice calls as part of providing the service and treats calls to AI companions as content data. I found no sentence on whether call audio is recorded or for how long it is kept. The call code on Candy's pages references ElevenLabs, a third-party voice service, so read the policy first if that matters to you.
