Is Candy AI free? It is free to join and free to sample, and it stops being free the moment you want an actual conversation. A free account gets 5 chat messages in total, one custom character, one image and the free Shorts episodes. I spent my five messages like a hiker rationing the last of the water, which is to say I drafted the opener in a notes app first.

This page itemizes the free tier, gives the order I would spend it in, and sorts the real free things from the “free trial” and “free Premium” promises that clutter the search results. The money answer in one line: the free tier is a long sample, not a plan, and Premium starts at $3.99 a month if you commit to a year.

Is Candy AI free? The free tier, line by line

Candy’s help center lists exactly three things for a free user: up to 5 messages in chat across all characters, one custom AI character, and one generated image, made either in the image generator or directly in chat. The terms of service confirm the message cap and separately say that further use requires a subscription.

The list is as interesting for what it leaves out. There are no tokens in it, and Candy says the token balance is not even displayed on the free service. Voice messages, voice calls, video generation and private content packs all spend tokens, and tokens come with Premium, so none of those are on the free menu.

The free account is real, not a bait-and-switch, and it is also deliberately small. It is enough to see the site, build a character, make an image and watch some Shorts, which tells you whether you like how the product looks. It does not tell you whether you like living with it, and that is what the paid plans sell.

Five messages: what they buy and what they do not

Five is the total, not the limit per character. The help center counts across all characters, so you can say five things to one person or one thing to each of five, and I found nothing that says the allowance refills. After that, the terms point you to a subscription.

Treat the five like a handshake, not a conversation. A sharp first message shows you whether a character’s tone suits you; “hi” shows you nothing and costs a fifth of your budget. I cannot tell you what chat feels like beyond the limit, because I would be guessing. What Candy does list is unlimited text messages on Premium, and ordinary chatting does not spend tokens there.

Free Candy Shorts: where the free stops

The Shorts are the most generous free part of the product. Episode 1 of every public series plays without an account. Episode 2 is free too, though a logged-out guest is asked to sign up first. Across 145 public series that is 291 free episodes, each under two minutes by Candy’s own description.

Episode 3 is usually where Premium enters. A standard series charges 12 tokens per paid episode and a Candy Creators series, the licensed AI twins of adult stars, charges 30. The 14 Spicy series need a login even to show an unblurred poster, so I cannot tell you what a guest gets from them.

Candy describes Shorts as separate from your chat conversations, so I would not expect watching them to use up your five messages. Free trial, free tokens, free Premium: what exists and what does not

Is there a free trial?

Not one I could find. The plan cards show three paid plans with no trial period, so the free account is the trial in practice: open-ended, but capped. The nearest thing to a cheap first step is the 1-month plan, which showed $9.99 for the first month and then $13.99 on the day I checked. I cannot tell whether that is a limited promo or depends on your region.

I also found no public “free trial code” I could verify, and the promo code section on the cost page says why. If you do pay and change your mind, Candy refunds a subscription only when you ask within 24 hours of paying, have used 20 tokens or fewer, and paid by card. Cancelling is not a refund request; you contact support separately.

Does Candy offer free tokens?

Not on the free tier, going by the help center. Premium includes 100 tokens a month, and the Premium Plus tier lists 330. The referral program pays 200 tokens to you and to your friend, but only once the friend subscribes to Premium, and only Premium users can send the invitation. It is a perk for people already paying, not a way in. Candy’s terms also say it may hand selected users bonus tokens at its discretion, which is not something you can request. Is there a free Premium account?

No. Search results for “free Candy AI premium”, token generators, hacks and cracked apps are fakes or malware bait, and some want your login or card. Candy sells Premium through its own checkout. If a site wants a download or your password to “unlock” it, close the tab.

The order I would spend the free allowance in

The free tier lets you answer one question cheaply: would I pay for more of this? Spend it in an order that answers that before the freebies run out.

1. Watch episode 1 of a Short, logged out. No account, no cost. If it does nothing for you, you are done and you have lost two minutes.
2. Make a free account and watch episode 2 of the same series. If you immediately want episode 3, that is the real signal, and it is the thing Premium sells.
3. Spend your one image on something specific. You get one. I spent longer choosing that prompt than I have ever spent on a restaurant menu.
4. Build your one custom character only when you know what you want. Same rule: one slot, so decide first.
5. Save the five messages for last. Chat is what Premium makes unlimited, so use the sample to check the tone, not to say hello.

What it costs when the free part ends

Heads-up: every plan renews automatically for the same price and term, and Candy says you cannot pause a subscription. Cancel in Settings before the renewal date; Premium stays active until the period ends. The charge appears on your statement as EverAI, not Candy.

Is there a free alternative to Candy AI?

Probably several, and I cannot rate them. I only review Candy, so I will not quote another service’s free allowance from memory. What I can give you is a checklist for comparing: how many messages you get, whether the limit is per character or total, whether images are included, whether the free access runs out after a set time, and what the renewal terms say. Candy’s five messages in total, one character and one image are the baseline.

Who should stay free, and who should pay

Stay on the free tier if episodes 1 and 2 did not make you want episode 3, if you only wanted a look, or if auto-renewing subscriptions make you twitchy. You have lost nothing, and I found no time limit on the free tier.

Pay if you finished the free episodes still curious, if five messages felt like a door closing, or if you want more than one character and one image, which the monthly tokens cover. The 12-month plan has the cheapest tokens; the 1-month plan is the smaller commitment. Whichever you pick, set a reminder before it renews.
