Room 742 Candy Shorts is worth unlocking: finishing costs 36 tokens, 36% of one month’s Premium allowance, and the hook is among the sharper ones I have opened. My own hotel keycard has only ever surprised me at the ice machine.

The synopsis is told in the first person, and it moves fast. The narrator’s keycard opens room 742, a stranger is already inside, and the narrator stays. Then his wife knocks. She is not surprised to see the narrator, she picked them herself, and she does not want them gone. She wants to watch.

Why four sentences are enough

A good hook raises questions faster than it answers them, and this one raises the biggest: why was the narrator picked, and by whom? “She picked me herself” turns an awkward accident into a plan, and the wife’s wish to watch gives the story a charged, voyeuristic angle without needing a long setup. On paper, it is a tidy opening.
