Simona Rossi: Wrong But Right Candy Shorts is worth its 3 free episodes, and worth the rest only if you want a slow, character-first stepsibling story: finishing costs 144 tokens, 144% of one month’s Premium allowance. By the end of the free ones I had already guessed one month of tokens would not cover it, which says something unflattering about my willpower and something flattering about the hook.
The synopsis gives Simona a crowded life. She is a college dropout with a streak of shady ex-boyfriends and very strict parents, and her relationship with her stepbrother is complicated and now tipping into attraction. Every character is an adult, as on all Candy Shorts.
A build that has the room to be slow
Almost everything in the pitch is about feelings and complications, with no single gimmick, so I read it as a drama-led take on the Stepsister and Taboo tags. That is the strength: 15 episodes is a long run, and a long run suits an attraction that is only “growing”. It is also the risk. Stepsibling stories are everywhere, and a long ladder works only if the writing keeps finding fresh complications. The free episodes are where you find out, and beyond the synopsis I won’t claim to know what the paid ones show.
