Under the Boss Candy Shorts, and why free may be enough

I will say the unfashionable thing: Under the Boss Candy Shorts is a pick for the free episodes, not the tokens. Finishing costs 36 tokens, 36% of one month’s Premium allowance, which is a fair price, but the synopsis does not give me a reason to pay it.

The setup, per the synopsis: a shy new temp starts at the boss’s London office, and the boss quickly becomes obsessed. His jealous PA will do anything to destroy their forbidden fling. That is every office-romance beat in order: new hire, fixated boss, resentful rival. My performance review of the premise is “meets expectations”, which is the problem.

What the PA and the postcode add

The PA is the one useful engine. A rival with access to the boss’s diary can interfere from inside, and that gives the fling pressure the temp alone could not. The London setting adds some color. And it has dubs: Candy lists French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, with subtitles in those plus English.

Beyond that, the tag list is just Taboo and the plot reads as a genre checklist. I am working from the synopsis and the free episodes, so I won’t claim to know whether the paid ones turn that around.

The few who should still pay

The ladder is 2 free episodes, then 3 paid at 12 tokens each. Finishing takes 36 of the 100 tokens Premium gives you per month. Out of each plan’s allowance, that is worth $1.44 on the 12-month plan, $3.24 on 3 months and $5.04 on 1 month.

Stay on the free episodes if the setup looks familiar by episode 2. Unlock only if office romance with a rival assistant is your favorite genre, or you want the dubbed audio. If the “Under the…” pattern is what you like, Under the Chief shares the title pattern, which is all I would claim without checking, and Every Wife on Candy Lane is another on the list.
